Alright. You just got your little red tongue pierced. Good for you. Now take care to avoid infection. First keep it clean. Listerine is one way another one I have noticed that is helpful is using a doctor recommended Tung brush. This is a funky little round bristled brush that helps keep your tongue piercing clean.
Everyone knows that the tongue has lots of bacteria. You should enjoy your piercing by using preventative maintenance for you tongue. Clean it with a brush like the one below. And rinse. Then repeat.

Keep your pierced area free of debris and keep your tongue healthy and greatly decrease the chance of having a infection around your piercing. You will feel better and so will your friends.
For a new tongue piercing be sure to allow the swelling to go down after about a week. Just keep rinsing with a antibacterial mouthwash do this after eating or touching the area around the tongue. This is a helpful cleaning instrument and will help you have a safe piercing with you tongue. Good oral hygiene cannot be overlooked when having a piercing in this area. You can have fund and enjoy it for life if you just maintain it correctly. With most tongue piercings you can get into all the little spaces with the tung brush. And it works at cleaning that whole area. Just take these few tips to heart and you will have it ease with taking care of your tongue piercing.
